Fresh Seafood Packaged Right!

Packaging fresh seafood, including shrimp, lobsters and fatty fish like herring, when done right, increases the shelf life of your seafood. Your challenge as a quality professional and technical expert in the Fresh Seafood Packaging Industry are many. You need to package your seafood products into a modified atmosphere package (MAP) in order to inhibit bacterial growth. You need to ensure your package is checked for leaks and has the proper headspace gas concentration; because in air (i.e. essentially no MAP) your shelf life can be 1/4 of what it would be in a good MAP package. Packaging fresh seafood is complex and there is a lot to control and monitor in your packaging to ensure your fresh seafood lasts.
